Instruction for Authors

The Sociolinguistics Society of Korea (SSK) welcomes sociolinguistic works to be shared and encourages submissions to The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea (SJK). Submissions should be made based on to the following guidelines:

To submit a manuscript, please go to the online paper submission section at the SSK website (https://socioling.jams.or.kr). The deadlines for submission are as follows:

Submissions must be original and not under consideration of other journals/publishers.
The journal accepts papers prepared mainly in either Korean or English. Submissions in other languages will not be excluded when they can be properly processed for review and evaluation.
Authors should carefully follow Manuscript Style Guide. Korean English
Authors are responsible for paying the processing fees related to review and membership when submitting a manuscript. Once accepted for publication, publication fee will be additionally requested.
Initial and annual membership fees:

Institutions/libraries	KRW 100,000	USD 100 (bank commission included)
Individuals	KRW 30,000	USD 30 (bank commission included)
	KRW 20,000*	USD 20 (bank commission included)

*Initial membership fee is exempted for the students in the undergraduate and master’s program.

Review Fee

Domestic	KRW 60,000	Overseas	USD 55 (bank commission included)

A publication fee for accepted articles should be remitted to SSK's account and reported to the Treasurer. The fee amounts to KRW 150,000/USD 140 (bank commission included). For the funded articles, the journal requests KRW 300,000/USD 280 (bank commission included). Additionally, to the final edited manuscript with more than 25 pages, KRW 10,000 (USD 10) per exceeding page will be charged. The basic publication fee is exempt for the papers by graduate student(s) or part-time instructor(s), inclusive of co-authored papers by a graduate student or a part-time instructor. (Note. Funded research and excess page charges are not exempt from the payment.)

The editorial office will screen the submitted manuscripts and check for compliance with the guidelines and process only the papers that meet the guidelines for peer review.
